magnetic hematite bracelet
You can fake Hematite?

I went to Wales for Shell Island in my vacation and bought a hematite ring and bracelet. The ring broke today, although I only had it for less than two days, I know (or thought I knew) that hematite is magnetic, for it is not a stone but infact iron ore. So, basically a magnet i used to pick up the pieces, but it would not work if I found a piece of it, it means I have swizzed? The hematite isn't real? or it means that I only understood something wrong? Please answer the friendly and do not give me any abuse, i did not exactly lose money on this, I was just curious is all. =] Thanks in advance. Roo, thanks Tim, I'll be more careful with the bracelet =] Shame about the ring hematite is ma favorite, now at least I know that her brittle than I thought, lol

Hematite is only weakly magnetic, unlike his brother magnetite (similar chemical composition). Hematite is also a very brittle material that will break easily if dropped form the ring. So you buy real hematite, which you do not care it just me: P PS Those rings tungsten carbide have a similar appearance to hematite, they are more expensive but last for a long time (tungsten carbide is extremely hard). Hope the helps:)
