Lovaza vs. OTC Fish Oil?
My question is for those who know are in the (doctors, pharmacists, etc.). Please explain and be prepared a detailed quote sources, if available. Is there a big difference between Lovaza (formerly Omacor) for about $ 80 and over the counter fish oil supplements, Kirkland Signature Fish Oil's like 1000 mg of Costco for $ 8.99? I know that the selling point Lovaza is purity, but shows a 2003 article by Consumer Reports, that prescription and OTC fish oil fish oil are the same, other than price. I would only confirm that the Community is knowledge. Your help is greatly welcome. Thank you!
Although I am not a doc, I know that the information is in the Consumer Reports right. I get almost the same EPA and DHA from fish oil I use (EPAmax from CNCA) as I do from pharma version. This is the way encroach pharmaceutical supplement on the market. Just to get fish oil (but note the amount of EPA and DHA in each capsule).
